Lost or Found animals with a MICROCHIP/Electronic ID |
The American Donkey and Mule Society requires all registered animals (Donkey, mule, hinny, or zebra hybrid) to have some form of permanent ID beginning in 2010. It is our sincere hope that having animals ID'd will cut down on the number of mis-identified animals, and also to help recover any that are lost or stolen. To all law enforcement officials (Police, Sheriff, Constable) and Shelters/Rescues that find a lost or stolen donkey, mule, hinny or other longeared equine: As the owners inform us of the microchip location and number (or in the case of a freeze/hot brand or tattoo) it is added into our main registry database. This database is available Mon-Fri form 930 am to 630 PM. You may call (972-219-0781) or email if you have found an animal with an implant (microchip) and we will cross reference our database. Even if you find an animal that does NOT have a microchip, you may call or email our office to see if any members have reported animals missing, strayed or stolen. We may be able to help you in identifying any owners in the immediate area. In such cases, please identify your branch of Law Enforcement, the officer or contact person, your contact information, and brief description of the animal: Male/Female Breed/Type (Miniature donkey, Standard sized donkey, large Standard Sized Donkey, Mammoth Jackstock, Miniature Mule, Pony Mule, Saddle Mule, Draft Mule, Zebra Hybrid) Color Any unusual marking Microchip/ID Number Wearing a halter? City/State/Zip code found. We will get back to you as soon as we are able in order to help reunite owners and their animals. We hope this service will make it easier for you as well. Thank you!
